Question
Effectiveness factor is given by __________

The rate of a reaction catalyzed by an immobilized enzyme (V) is normally lower than the rate due to the same amount of free enzyme in solution (Vfree). The change in rate of the reaction can be quantitatively expressed by introducing the effectiveness factor which is given by ฦž=V/Vfree. The effectiveness factor generally lies between 0 and 1 and is dependent on the bulk substrate concentration. It may be greater than unity because of partition or inhibitory effects or if the immobilized enzyme is stabilized relative to free enzyme over a period of time.
